An Exchange Week in the Netherlands(with Japan;Spain; Poland; Finland)

Sunday, 09.11.2025

On Sunday morning we came by  train. It was a fun journey we played card games and in Magdeburg we had a small break to eat. As we arrived in Leer the host families picked us up and all showed us their homes.

On Monday, we were assigned to 12 different groups with our partners and students from other countries, and after a quick greeting, all the different schools had to present themselves and their school . They came from Poland, Finland, Japan, Spain and the Netherlands. When that was done, we had a short break and needed to sign up for one of the three museums (Anne Frank House; Rejksmuseum; the National Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam and for one of the three workshops(Art; Drama; Volleyball) on Thursday. After that, the groups left to their assigned rooms and got to know each other.

On Tuesday we took a three-hour bus ride to Amsterdam. When we arrived, we first had some time to explore the city on our own. Later, everyone visited the museum they had chosen beforehand. Through these Museums we learned a lot about the culture and history of the Netherlands. After the museum visits, we had more time to walk around and discover the city. In the late afternoon, we met up again and had to return to the bus for the ride back home. It was a very interesting day and Amsterdam turned out to be a beautiful city.

Then  we had a break and we went to Groningen. We had a really good time there and we had to take photos of our groups and sights in the background. After that we we had some free time

On Thursday our day started at 9.20 and  we had to finish our projects. After a small lunch break everyone headed to the workshops we had chosen on Monday, but we only had an hour, which was personally a bit too little time. Then we all went back to our hostpartners’ homes and cooked a dish typical for the different nations of the exchange in groups of four students. In the evening we met up at school again for a big buffet and afterwards a pubquiz, that wasn’t going well for us. And then to finish the long day, everyone that wanted, went to a club, where everyone danced and laughed together.

Conclusion

At the end of the week, we went home with countless beautiful memories and impressions. It was an unforgettable time full of new experiences, laughter, and friendships. Taking part in the student exchange was one of the best decisions we made, and we would do it again without hesitation.
